Palin: ‘Worst thing’ GOP can do is marginalize Ron Paul supporters
Activism Wednesday, January 4th, 2012By Felicia Sonmez, WashingtonPost.com
Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin (R) said Tuesday night that Republicans who would marginalize Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) are making a big mistake.
“Here’s the deal,” Palin told Fox Business Network’s Neil Cavuto. “The GOP would be so remiss to marginalize Ron Paul and his supporters as we come out of Iowa tonight and move down the road to New Hampshire, South Carolina and Florida, et cetera. If we marginalize these supporters who have been touched by Ron Paul and what he believed in over these years, well, then, through a third party run of Ron Paul’s or the Democrats capturing those independents and these libertarians who supported what Ron Paul’s been talking about, well, then the GOP is going to lose. And then there will be no light at the end of the tunnel.”
“So, the worst thing that the GOP machine can do is marginalize Ron Paul and his supporters,” she added.
Palin said that while she disagrees with Paul on foreign policy, the Texas Republican “does have good ideas when it comes to the austerity measures that domestically we must engage in in order to be secure, in order to be solvent as a nation.”
“The supporters of Ron Paul, they hear that. They have been touched by that,” she said.
As results from the Iowa caucuses were coming in Tuesday night, Paul was in a tight three-way race with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. In interviews on the campaign trail in recent days, backers of both Santorum and Romney have sharply criticized Paul and his supporters, and Santorum himself Tuesday morning called Paul “disgusting.”

I do not believe she is stating this because she truly supports Dr. Paul. I think she understands that without Dr. Pauls supporters.., the GOP candidate will lose.
Unfortunately, the GOP has already burned that bridge….
100% correct. the only way the GOP gets this Paul supporter’s vote is if it’s for Paul. Period.
In interviews on the campaign trail in recent days, backers of both Santorum and Romney have sharply criticized Paul and his supporters, and Santorum himself Tuesday morning called Paul “disgusting.” This is very disrespectful and immature. I feel that Santorum needs more time to mature before running for the President of the united states of America. We need a real man in the WhiteHouse for a change, one that will follow the Constitution of the united states of America. I am still voting for Ron Paul!
Santorum was voted the most corrupt member of congress in 2008, and the least intellegent in 2006.
He claims the “pro-life” mantle, but is 100% pro-war. The cognative dossonace is deafening. And possibly why the GOP cannot get any traction; they do not practice what they preach.
As usual, except for Ron Paul.
General Electric
Keep your eye on Waukesha, Wisconsin……Their biggest employer just moved out.
Thanks Jeff, you’re a “real” American….give Barack our Best !!
General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wis., to Beijing. In addition to moving the headquarters, the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year. but paid no taxes-the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the united States.
So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar).Immelt is supposed to help create jobs. I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs.
If this doesn’t show you the total lack of leadership of this President, I don’t know what does. Please pass this information to others and think about it before you buy a GE product.
…or vote for Obama again.
Palin has it right, marginalize Paul to your detriment. Santorum calling Paul “disgusting” has done just that. I hope he enjoyed his 15 minutes, he is toast.
Linda, you are absolutely correct and right on the money about GE. This has been a thorn in my side as well and I refuse to buy GE.
Whatever her motive, Palin’s analysis on this is correct. The constitutional wing of the party has the power to exact decisive retribution if the leadership continue to deal unfairly with them.
Audit the fed, support HR 459 Paul
Foreign policy or drugs. Neocons whine about these two policy differences but are Constitutionally ignorant regarding the Federal Government’s involvement. Drugs are a states rights matter. Wars should not be fought under a UN flag nor under UN resolutions. It’s gotten so bad now the current dope in the White House doesn’t even acknowledge Congress when he wants to start a war. All the while the neocons, the eltitist, the establishment republicans sit silent because they know they can use the same precedent to start wars when their candidate wields the hammer of war. Better to sit silent than to appear as a hypocrite.
Why isn’t Sarah wearing her wedding ring?
Does anyone here reason that perhaps the game plan is to elect BO again and watch the whole thing fall apart?
I, for one, hope RP does form a third party. This country needs one.
