Rep. West calls Obama ‘weak’ on Iran
Activism, Breaking News, Headlines Friday, January 20th, 2012By Jeremy Herb, The Hill
Calling President Obama weak for the way he’s dealing with Iran, Tea Party Republican Rep. Allen West (Fla.) told The Hill that the United States should be saying “game on” to Iran in the face of its recent threats to close the Strait of Hormuz.
“Right now he’s not conveying any kind of strength whatsoever,” West said of Obama. “If I were sitting at the White House I would say two words to Iran — that’s ‘game on.’ ”
West, an Army veteran and House Armed Services Committee member, criticized Obama over a report Wednesday that an Iranian lawmaker said Obama had called for direct talks with Iran in a secret communication to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Obama administration officials disputed the report.
In the face of Iran’s belligerence, West said, talks are not likely to stop the country’s nuclear ambitions.
“Sooner or later you have to understand that the only thing they’re going to recognize is strength and might, and you must have a credible and viable military threat on the table,” West said. “We’re telegraphing ourselves to be weak.”

Just another warmonger making hay with the blood thirsty sheeple.
beat that drum! Pass the war paint!
Hey, I got an Idea. Lets have a war with Iran and this dingleberry can go and fight it and leave the rest of us alone!
I’ll bet they said the same thing to the socialist Roosevelt when he aided Britain.
While I have great respect for Rep. West and he is one of the few War Mongers who at least has been there himself … we simply cannot play global policeman anymore (it was never a good idea, but now it is bankrupting us and killing our service-men and women at greater rates). I think that if the rest of the world wants to stop Iran … power to them. Time for us to say NMP, stay out of Israel’s way, and to start winding down warfare and welfare machines.
Mr. Wests apparent lack of knowledge of history of US, British, and Israeli involvement in Iran’s personal affairs is typical neo-con dumbing down of the real issues of why Iran want’s a nuke to protect itself. Gaddafi gave up his nuke ambitions and look what happened to him. If you are a country with oil and have it nationalized instead of privatized and trade it in something other than the dollar we are going to kill you and take it. Such good christian foreign policy that would never cause blowback now would it?
Congressman/Colonel West has more experience in this area than you three liberal loones. More power to him and less to Obama. BO has been a disaster as president.
Actually our foreign policy has been a disaster for the past 70 plus years given it has been controlled by banking and corporate parasites who do not represent in any way America and We The People. So sorry you can’t place me in the blame America first crowd which is the neo-con mantra.
Given the fact Mr. West has taken the oath twice to protect the Constitution and serve We The People and yet has still voted for the Un Constitutional Patriot Act before voting against it shows he is by no means a all knowing individual, as none of us are. To be an American and hold your government accountable for its actions you must take some time and research to form a educated opinion of a situation before you can speak. I highly doubt you have any knowledge of our history with Iran because you gave absolutely no credence to what I wrote other than to blindly give your allegiance to someone simply because they were in the military and as you seem to view a position of authority and therefore must never be questioned.
If we were not so dependant on foreign oil this would not matter at all!
West should get more passionate about American energy instead of what’s going on thousands of miles away …
