Tea party official says movement is alive and well in Iowa

DES MOINES — Dan Lucore says the movement isn’t dead – far from it.
He is an organizer with the Cedar Rapids branch of the Tea Party Patriots. The Patriots is one of several national organizations that sprung up over the past few years in an effort to turn the loosely organized, local tea party groups into a national political movement.
That movement is credited with changing the face of Congress in 2010, changing the nature of debate in Washington, D.C., and moving the Republican Party to the right fiscally.
But how important a role the tea party will play in Iowa caucuses in two months, and the 2012 election a year from now, is a key question the political strategists hoping to put a Republican in the White House need to answer.
Lucore, who was active in the tea party in Mesa, Ariz., before he moved to Iowa and became active with the Cedar Rapids group, said interest in the tea party is going up as caucuses draw closer.
“It goes back and forth, but we usually get between 10 and 30 people at our meetings,” Lucore said. There, discussion typically revolves around issues, as opposed to candidates, although candidate talk has become more frequent.
“There’s no one candidate,” Lucore said. “I just know in talking to members that some of them don’t think (former Massachusetts Gov.) Mitt Romney is conservative enough.”

Tea party movement is a good thing. As long as you aren’t going to cause the conservative party Republican to lose an allow Obama the worst President in my life time a second term. Because if Obama wins we will have a change more severe then the past 3 years. He’ll have carte blanche to destroy us completely. Many in the campaign are worthty of being the president. Newt Perry Romney. Romney has the knowledge the back ground the business background to pull us out of this demise. Newt has the political background. Romney has been given a bad rap because of his religion. At least he has one. I don’t see it as a problem. HE can debate Obama. Newt will clean Obamas clock. I like Michelle Bachman, but she isn’t strong enough to beat Obama. We gave the smoot talker a chance to prove he could work for this country. Look what he’s done.. I didn’t give him a vote. I saw he would destroy this country. Romney is my candidate. Newt Romney ticket would be something worth looking at….
