U.S. life expectancy continues to rise

The death rate in the United States fell for the tenth straight year, according to federal statistics released this week.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report also showed life expectancy in the United States increased to 78.2 years, up slightly from 78 years in 2008. Life expectancy for males increased two-tenths to 75.7 years and up one-tenth – 80.6 years – in females.
Among the white population, life expectancy increased by two-tenths of a year.
